ScaleUp.SH is aimed at start-ups from northern Germany that have passed the early stages and now want to grow in a targeted manner. You can find the exact requirements on the participation page.

Yes. Participation is free of charge – funded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, Employment, Technology and Tourism of the State of Schleswig-Holstein as part of the Waterkant Futures Thinking Lab.

Expressions of interest may be submitted until 15 April 2026.

After you express your interest, we will usually get back to you within 1–2 weeks. We will arrange an appointment for an interview as soon as possible. After you submit your detailed application, we will usually make a decision within 1–3 weeks.

We support a curated selection of 5–7 teams per year. The number is deliberately kept small – so that individual support and targeted matching actually work.

There are no fixed appointments or mandatory formats. You decide what to tackle and when. As a rough guide: a matching conversation takes 1–2 hours, an international trip 1–3 days, an application phase is more intensive – but when and whether any of this happens is entirely up to you. The regular accompaniment in between is something we shape together, fitting around your everyday life. Typically we work together for about 12 months – not because the programme runs that long, but because real development takes time and we want to actively support you throughout.

No. We provide personalised support – acting as a sparring partner, helping with matchmaking and accompanying you on your travels. The content and format are tailored to your specific goals. Some program events will take place as part of the Waterkant Festival (on 18–19 June 2026).

Not necessarily. The programme is aimed at start-ups from northern Germany. However, a connection to Schleswig-Holstein – location, team, market – is a prerequisite.

ScaleUp.SH is aimed at teams with a validated product and initial market success. Those who are still in the very early stages are not currently suitable – but expressing an interest won't hurt. We provide honest feedback.
